Restoring Lives by Reaching the Unreached
Akhand Jyoti USA is a registered 501(c) (3) nonprofit Organization, committed to o serving vulnerable populations in low-income regions. We focus on restoring sight, reducing poverty, empowering girls through education and skills, and cultivating women as change-makers in society
To eliminate blindness from low-income regions like Bihar, India increases in surgical capacity is crucial to improve coverage and reduce preventable blindness. With limited healthcare infrastructure and a high demand for treatment, increasing the number of specialized facilities and trained surgeons will ensure timely care, especially in underserved rural areas. This expansion will help more people access the surgeries they need, improving eye health across the state. Furthermore, our goal to expand the Optometrist workforce through the 'Football to Eyeball' program is essential to advancing the blindness elimination initiative.
By year 2030
12 million Eyes screened (additionally)
2 million sight restoration surgeries for the blind
1500 girls trained as Optometrist to drive the blindness elimination program
